How to write for the web, 7 valuable tips!

We often get asked what the best way to write content for the web is, so that it will attract more favourable hits from search engines and inspire target audiences to react in a certain way. After doing some research into this I thought I'd share with you 7 of the most valuable tips which will improve the way your content works fro you. These tips will help your communication to be more easily picked up by search engines and be more useful to your target audience. Remember always that your website is ultimately made for humans and not search engines, so people should come first in all aspects of any communication.

1. Make it relevant...

The golden rule is to make the content relevant to your target audience. Potential clients don't want to know about you, they want to know about what you can do for them.

2. Be concise...

Around 250 words per page is enough. Rather have more pages than words per page.

3. Don't duplicate content...

Don't duplicate content... I think you get the picture. Neither search engines or people like it when you bang on about the same thing in the same way over and over again.

4. Create a need...

Use your first paragraph to show that you understand your target audience's needs. If there is no apparent need, create one!

5. Use testimonials...

If you've got 'em flaunt 'em. People love to see what other people have had to say about you, your services, products and your brand.

6. A call to action...

Make sure that you call your target audience to action in your final paragraph. Get your words to work for you and inspire people to take things to the next level.

7. Keywords...

Identify up to 3 keywords or key phrases per page which are relevant to that specific communication. Use them in your first paragraph and we'll add them to your code. The search engines will pick up on this and your communication will benefit.
